Performances:
Vijay Antony can't emote and hence he don't suit all kinds of roles. Being aware of his drawbacks, He is very particular about choosing only serious/moody characters. That's how Vijay Antony became a major asset to 'Bichagadu'. He acted as per the requirement of the subject and audience would connect well with his role. Especially, He does well in the emotional scenes.
Heroine Sathna did a fine job. The Actor who played Hero's Uncle is pretty good. Rest of the actors have done justice to their roles.
Pros:
Vijay Antony
Screenplay
Background Score
Cons:
Tamil Flavour
Illogical Scenes
Technicalities:
Vijay Antony is equally impressive as a Music Director. Background Score provided by him stands out as a highlight. Songs were decent. Camera Work is good. Dubbing could have been better. Director Shasi has done a lot of home work for 'Bichagadu'. Particularly, He left a mark of his own with the screenplay. Too much melodrama, Tamil nativity and Illogical Scenes act like spoilers.
Analysis:
A Foreign-return Billionaire turns Beggar for a period of 48 days for the sake of his bed-ridden Mother? The plot itself is so interesting and something no one has attempted so far. That's why, Vijay Anthony and Director Shasi deserves a pat of their backs!
Director Shasi presented the life style of Beggars in a realistic manner. Combination scenes of Hero & Beggars came out well. Few Comedy Blocks tickle the funny bone and Emotional Scenes hit the right chord. Hero's scene with Traffic Cop and a Luxury Car Owner were executed well.
Lack of Logic and Too Much Melodrama in few scenes were the major setbacks. How can a well-educated person believe the words of a Sage so much and turn into a Beggar? Audience can't digest such illogical point in a social movie. To make it worse, Hero doesn't even complete the 48 Days deeksha suggested by the Sage. Even clash with goons at regular intervals were misleading. Viewers will have mixed feelings upon watching the movie. Unusual Plot & Interesting Screenplay were the only saving grace of 'Bichagadu'.
Bottom Line: A Different Attempt!
