You might get a doubt about this competition as you think Rajamouli's 'RRR' will be having a solo release during next year's Sankranti. But the Corona pandemic disrupted a lot of film shootings and unfortunately, 'RRR' is one of them. The transportation to or from foreign countries came to a halt and even the filming is shutdown. As 'RRR' is set in the backdrop of the pre-independence era, Rajamouli needed a lot of foreign actors which is currently impossible. So, there is a high chance of the film getting postponed to next year's summer as per trusted sources.
This leaves the Sankranti season open and grapevine suggests that two pan-Indian projects are going to lock horns with each other at that time. The first one would be Pawan Kalyan's 27th film directed by Krish. This period drama is being made on a grand budget of around 150 crores and the makers are trying to make it universally appealing to utilize the untouched markets opened by 'Baahubali'. The film will be coming during January next year at any cost as per reports.
The other film would be none other than Prabhas's 20th film directed by Radhakrishna. This is also a period romantic drama set in Europe. Starring Prabhas and Pooja Hedge in the lead, this film is also being made on a grand scale. Fans are eagerly waiting for this film. Tentatively titled as 'O Dear', this is also made like a pan-Indian film because of the craze Prabhas possesses country-wide.
With Pawan and Prabhas facing off each other, Sankranti 2021 is definitely going to be a grand feast for fans and movie buffs.
