Why This Mad Rush For Biopics?

There seems to be a mad rush to make biopics. Even earlier, biopics on legends like Gandhi, Nehru and Nelson Mandela were made. But, these days there is a rush to make biopics of anyone and everyone. This is being done to market the personality and make some fast buck. Most of these personalities have grey shades to their life. So, the makers are forced to cover up the dark spots and glorify the characters. Some fictition gets invented and some fake incidents are created.
This has happened with Mahanati. The film was criticized for distortions. Gemini Ganesan's family has slammed the film for showing Gemini in poor light. Similarly, Sanju , which is the biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt, was slammed for glorifying his questionable acts.
Now, a biopic on NTR is being made by Balakrishna. The film has already become controversial as the directors have changed once too often. There are lingering questions as to how Chandrababu’s betrayal of NTR would be potrayed. If they want to have a full length character for Chandrababu, then they should also show how he backstabbed NTR and all those sordid events at the Viceroy Hotel. If they omit these parts, then questions would be raised and the makers would be branded as being biased. If there are too many distortions, it could inspire others to make a biopic on Chandrababu Naidu to show his 'true' colours, quipped an observer.
