BJP demands PM statement on soldiers killing
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Aug 2013 10:22 AM GMTPrime Minister Manmohan Singh must make a statement on the killing of Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj demanded Wednesday.
The BJP Wednesday attacked the government over Defence Minister A.K. Antony's statement on Tuesday's ambush of an Indian Army patrol in Jammu and Kashmir which left five soldiers dead.
Sushma Swaraj questioned the government on the differences in the statements made by Antony and the defence ministry on the ambush.
"The defence minister gave a statement but we came to know later that the defence ministry also gave a press statement," Swaraj said in the house.
She said that while the defence ministry statement said that the Pakistan Army was responsible, the minister gave "a clean chit to it".
"This is a grave issue," Swaraj said demanding that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh make a statement on the issue.
Minutes after the remarks by the senior BJP leader, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house till noon as the opposition MPs created a ruckus.
