Legendary actor-producer Dilip Kumar who was regarded as the ‘First Khan’ of Bollywood has passed away leaving many in tears. He is 98 years old and was suffering from respiratory issues. He was admitted to Hinduja hospital of Mumbai on 30th June due to breathlessness and the actor was put on oxygen support before getting discharged. He was again admitted on June 6th but he breathed his last today.

The loss of Dilip Kumar has left Bollywood in dismay and they are offering their condolences to the family. Dilip Kumar's original name was Mohammed Yusuf Khan but he changed it in order to get more acceptance from the Indian crowd. He was one of the first artists in India who did method acting. He was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and received the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor 8 times which is a record even now. The government recognised his wonderful work in the field of entertainment and felicitated Dilip Kumar with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and later with Padma Vibhushan in 2015.

Dilip Kumar made his debut as an actor in 1944 with 'Jwar Bhata' and in a phenomenal career spanning over five decades, he did 65 films but many of them were classics. He acted in films like 'Anokha Pyar', 'Andaz', 'Daag', 'Devdas', 'Azaad', 'Naya Daur', 'Kohinoor', 'Leader', 'Mughal-E-Azam' and many others. His last film was 'Qila' which came out in 1998. He is married to famous actress Saira Bano from 1966. His close friend Faial stated, "So, 55 years of marriage and Saira Bano has stood by him in all the ups and downs of life that comes with 55 years of marriage. Rock solid, always there. I think they are the most loving couple and couple goals that you can imagine. One can learn from them."

Apart from acting, Dilip Kumar was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. He spent in the office from 2000 to 2006. Not just Bollywood but the entire nation is mourning over the loss of such a prolific personality and a legendary actor.

A lot of fans are filled with sorrow while people who knew him on a personal front are shell shocked. His close family friend Faisal Farooqui revealed the news as he said, "I am here in the hospital. Sahab passed just after 7 o'clock. He was admitted to the hospital for the past few days for old-age related complications and he passed away peacefully this morning in the presence of Saira ji and other family members and doctors. We are still at the hospital."
