Afterrn a trend-setter like 'SVSC', Mahesh Babu & Srikanth Addala joined rnhands again for 'Brahmotsavam'. Even since the launch of this family rndrama, The positive vibe kept increasing the expectations day-by-day. rnToday, 'Brahmotsavam' released Worldwide in over 1700 screens. Does the rnfilm really give a reason for movie lovers to celebrate?

Synopsis:

'Brahmotsavam'rn is about the conflict between the Head-of-a-Family & his rnBrother-in-Law. Mahesh Babu's Father (Sathyaraj), a successful rnbusinessman, believes in togetherness and always loves to be surrounded rnby people. However, One of his Brother-in-Law's (Rao Ramesh) doesn't rnlike to live under his shadow. Rao Ramesh plans for the marriage of rnMahesh & Pranitha with a hidden agenda. That's when he comes to knowrn that Mahesh is already in love with Kajal. Rao Ramesh's outburst at rnthis juncture leads to an irreparable loss. How this tragedy hurt the rnwhole family & what did Mahesh do to set things right forms the restrn of the tale.

Performances:

Asrn usual, Mahesh Babu steals the show with his charismatic persona and rnbrilliant performance. Hats off to the way he acted in the pre-Interval rn& Climax blocks. He did equally well in the romantic scenes with rnKajal and Samantha. In 'Brahmotsavam', Prince looks so youthful and rncan't believe he is in his 40s now. On the flipside, We don't find any rnelements masses expect from Superstar in the movie. Few dances done by rnMahesh were badly composed.

After Mahesh, Its Rao Ramesh who rnwalks away with top honors. Srikanth Addala always casts Rao Ramesh in rnpivotal roles and this gifted actor never lets him down. Audience will rnremember Rao Ramesh's role for a very long time.

Satyaraj played rnhis part to perfection. Kajal's role was etched well and she is rnimpressive. Samantha's character looks to be a complete misfit. Pranitharn plays a less significant role. Jayasudha, Revathi and Tanikella Bharanirn uses all of their experience to leave a mark of their own.

Pros:

Mahesh Babu

Cinematography

Production Values

Cons:

Screenplay

Direction

Lethargic Pace

Technicalities:

Highrn Technical Values are an asset to 'Brahmotsavam'. Songs composed by rnMickey J Meyer were good. Even Background Score by Gopi Sundar is rnappreciable. Rathnavelu's Camera Work is amazing & yet again shows rnhis contribution is priceless. Art Direction by Thota Tharani is rncolorful. Production Values were grand. Srikanth Addala made rn'Brahmotsavam' with a good intent but he failed to narrate it in an rnentertaining manner. Inspite of having Mahesh Babu & Huge Budget, rnExecution part wasn't good enough in this case. Director has to blame rnhimself for penning such a 'boring' Screenplay, particularly the latter rnhalf does the damage.

Analysis:

Srikanth Addala could claim the credit for reviving the 'family drama' genre with 'SVSC'. He succeeded in convincing stars like Venky & Mahesh with a simple story and left a mark of his own by narrating it in his style. When Mahesh signed 'Brahmotsavam', Audience expected the film to be at least as good as 'SVSC' or even better. But, Srikanth Addala fell short of the expectations.

With 'Brahmotsavam', Srikanth Addala tried to convey the point 'Celebrate Life with Togetherness'. He tried to strike a chord with audience by making the lead Actor go in search of his family roots. Unfortunately, Audience could hardly connect with the concept emotionally while watching the movie.

Usually, Srikanth Addala-mark Characterizations, Scenes & Dialogues will make it very easy for viewers to connect with the theme of the movie. Even 'Brahmotsavam' have such elements but snail pace plays the spoilsport. Lack of entertainment values could be seen as another big drawback. Even the intellectual dialogues tests the patience of audience in single screens and they find it really difficult to decode them.

Coming to the positives, Mahesh-Kajal's romantic track in First Half has come out well. Emotional Scenes in the pre-Interval & Climax will stand out. Thanks to Mahesh Babu-Rao Ramesh-Satyaraj! What works against the movie are the scenes between Post Interval & Climax. Samantha's role & The episode where Hero goes in search of family roots were unbearable.

Srikanth Addala tried to establish the connect which was lost post Interval with a highly emotional Climax block but that didn't yield him desired results. The patient of the audience was tested to the fullest by then and the hurried-Climax can't be a saving grace. Overall, 'Brahmotsavam' ends up as a family drama which can't even satisfy its target audience.

Bottom Line:
Nothing Much To Celebrate!
