Can Mani Ratnams PS - 1 Satisfy The Audience?

Watching movies in theatres has stopped being about story, emotions and performances. It has gone to the background nowadays. Though it is very necessary for the film to succeed, the audience are expecting an exhilarating visual experience when they step into the theatres. This is the main reason why only big star hero films or high-budget films are performing well at the box office as they give a high feeling or create euphoria in the theatres.

Films like 'RRR', 'KGF - 2', 'Pushpa' and others performed brilliantly on a pan-Indian level due to the visual experience they gave and the goosebumps moments they offered. Whenever there is a pan-Indian film arrive, people expect all the above-mentioned aspects. At the end of this month, 'Ponniyin Selvan - 1' is arriving in theatres with a lot of expectations. It was made on a massive budget with a huge ensemble cast like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Sobitha Dhulipala, Jayram, Prakash Raj and many others. It is legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam's dream project and there is a lot at stake.

The trailer came out recently and it was not what people expected. They assumed that the movie will be a visual extravaganza and has high-octane action sequences which will make the audience awestruck. But the trailer did not have a lot of goosebumps moments and it focused more on drama and internal politics. While they may engage the audience if narrated in a perfect way, there is a high chance of the public rejecting it straightaway if the drama and screenplay fails to impress the audience. Considering the budget involved, it will be a huge task for Mani Ratnam and team. Hope the 'PS - 1' come up with a strong team on 30th September.
