Can "only US release" be right strategy for this film?
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 Dec 2019 6:09 AM GMTMadhanam releasing in December has a speciality to it. The movie team has decided to release it in "US Only"!
Already many distributors who are facing heavy losses have decided to wait for December films to be released as their performance will help them act accordingly, in future.
Market is heavily affected by OTT platforms emergence and a new strategy to counter it is required.
But releasing a film only in US and not in Telugu states, seems too weird. If the movie doesn't attract people there, the positive talk that the team feels would help them to gain Buzz in Telugu states, will be absent.
While some different measures are the order of the day, this seems like an act equivalent to man trying to chop off the branch without realising that he is standing on it.
If the movie somehow manages to become a hit, then it will be a new marketing example for young Telugu filmmakers who think their films correspond to US audience sensibilities more than masses in Telugu states. Let's wait and see.
