Vidya Balan's Begum Jaan in censor tussle!

These days, censor board has been anything but certifying establishment that it is intended to be. Many filmmakers are finding their voice cut off by the many objections raised by the really old laws of Cinematography act that enable the censor officials to act as God, in terms of allowing the public exhibition of a movie. Recently Udta Punjab, Raman Raghav 2.0, La La Land and many other filmmakers found themselves fighting over scenes that the makers wanted to retain and the officials were adamant about chopping off.
Now, Vidya Balan's new movie, Begum Jaan also found itself trying to please the officials of censor board before releasing the movie. The trailer of the movie already became a huge hit with the netizens and they were shell shocked with the bold content and edgy dialogues. Vidya Balan as the owner of a brothal in a India- Pakistan border town, looked in great form. The makers were happy with the reception and thought the purpose behind the movie will be served.
They applied for a 'A' certificate from the censor board but asusually, officials started objecting to the content. They demanded a total of 12 cuts including harsh sex scenes between several actors and blood shots of few villagers. The censor officials also asked the makers to tone down on the language using beeps and blur the extreme cleavage shots. They also demanded the makers to cut several shots depicting the violence at the borders and several political elements touched by the makers.
The filmmakers were shell shocked by these demands and the censor officials even gave them an ultimatum that they will not certify the film until and unless these demands are met with. Finally, the makers decided to fight it out as they do not want to miss out on their creative freedom of expression.
