The Inspiration behind Shruti Haasan's Role

Usually, Writers and Directors take inspiration from real life incidents and individuals. For the role of Shruti Haasan in 'Premam', Director Chandoo Mondeti got inspiration from his own wife. Although its a remake, The Filmmaker's Wife helped him make changes according to the Telugu nativity.
Interestingly, Even Chandoo's Wife works as a Lecturer in a college. The Director claims to be aware of the attitude of Girl who turn Lecturers soon after completion of the studies. Watching his wife closely helped him in getting the characterization right.
Personally, Chandoo Mondeti likes Shruti Haasan's part among all the three love stories in 'Premam'. He got connected to that particular episode so much while watching the Malayalam version. Shruti Haasan's attitude and confidence in the Telugu version is a reflection of the Director's Wife.
Chandoo Mondeti is open to do remakes if the subject is as heart-touching as that of 'Premam'.
