Chandrababu Naidu declines to comment on Modi overture
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Aug 2013 12:08 PM GMTTelugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu Tuesday declined to comment on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's call to his party to honour the legacy of its founder N.T. Rama Rao by joining the efforts to liberate the country from Congress' rule.
"This is not the time to comment on it. My concern is present developments (over Telangana issue," he said in reply to a query at a news conference here.
Addressing a public meeting here Sunday, Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign committee chairman, had said those who claim NTR's legacy have the responsibility to join the efforts to rid the country of Congress rule and form non-Congress government at the centre.
Praising late NTR, Modi had said it was because of his efforts that a non-Congress government was formed at the centre.
Naidu, however, said there was nothing significant in Modi praising NTR.
"NTR was a great personality. That is the history. All leaders praise him," said the former Andhra Pradesh chief minister.
