The spacecraft Chandrayaan-2 developed by Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) had added credit to its name for discovering hydroxyl (OH) and water molecules (H2O) on the Moon surface.

Besides identifying them, Chandrayaan-2 had also differentiated the two particles.

Chandrayaan-2 had successfully identified the two particles on the surface by using the Imaging infrared spectrometer (IIRS) technology.

The new discovery comes as a much needed boost up for the firms that are focused on mission moon.

Chandrayaan-2 discovering the presence of hydroxyl (OH) and water molecules (H2O) on the Moon surface gave strength to the findings that the moon also has the presence of water.

After the stunning discovery, the ISRO said, hydroxyl (OH) and water molecules (H2O) were discovered on the surface between 29 degrees north and 62 degrees north latitude.

Launched in 2019, the Chandrayaan-2 marks the second mission of ISRO to the moon. The spacecraft was equipped with an orbiter and lander which plays a big role in understanding the surface.
