Chief Justice SA Bobde Recommends Justice NV Ramana As The New CJI!

With one month left for his retirement, the news agency Press Trust of India(PTI) has reported that the Central government asked the CJI to suggest a name that can replace him.
Replying to the letter written by Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar, CJI BA Bobde is said to have recommended Justice NV Ramana as his successor.NV Ramana is the senior-most judge in the Supreme Court.
Looking at the background of Justice NV Ramana, he hails from Andhra Pradesh and comes from an agricultural family. Starting his career as a lawyer, he was appointed as Additional Advocate General of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh during the tenure of Chandrababu Naidu.
NV Ramana was appointed as the permanent judge of AP High Court in June 2000. Later he served as the acting Chief Justice of the AP High Court for a brief period. In 2013 September, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. A year later he was appointed as the Supreme Court Judge in February 2014. His tenure at the Supreme Court will end on August 26, 2022.
