Chiru Raises Doubts - Nag Ashwin Clarifies!
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 May 2018 5:18 PM GMTChiranjeevi appreciated Team Mahanati for creating a classic. He had invited Director Nag Ashwin, Producers Ashwini Dutt, Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt to his residence and felicitated them. On this occasion, Megastar raised few doubts and sought clarification from none other than Nag Ashwin.
Chiru: What kind of research has gone into the making of 'Mahanati'?
Nag Ashwin: I wanted to make a honest film. This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, feels proud to have made it.
Chiru: No Biopics in Telugu so far. How did you get such a thought?
Nag Ashwin: I always wanted to make a movie on Savitri garu as I grew up watching her films and songs. Came to know about many things about her after I began penning the story. Made an attempt to ensure people doesn't forget such a great actress, legendary directors and classics.
Chiru: How did you kickstart the project?
Nag Ashwin: Initially, I met Savitri's Daughter Vijaya Chamundeswari. This film wouldn't have been completed without the blessings of Savitri garu.
Chiru: Didn't Vijaya Chamundeswari object showing addictions of Savitri towards the end of her life?
Nag Ashwin: No, She didn't object as people need to know some things about Savitri garu. Addictions aren't the main element in 'Mahanati'. We have been seeing sympathetic reports about Savitri since few years. We were able to convince Vijaya Chamundeswari about the necessity of showing the downfall.
Chiru: What kind of satisfaction you got from 'Mahanati'?
Nag Ashwin: I don't want the biopic to be a sad tale but planned it in a way that people take inspiration from Savitri garu. People have been embracing the movie in a honest manner. We had the satisfaction of making a good movie.
