By: Tupaki Desk | 26 April 2022 8:12 AM GMTMegastar Chiranjeevi was one of the centrifugal forces behind Tollywood convincing the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to permit cinema ticket prices at cinema halls across the state.
In his latest interaction with media as a part of Acharya's promotions, Chiranjeevi was asked about the ticket price hikes and he had an interesting response to the same. Chiranjeevi was quite verbal with his reaction and this caught the attention of the media personnel who were covering the event live.
"The film industry is one of the worst hit industries due to the pandemic and we were all in great need of external help and support. We pay the highest amount of tax to the state governments and all that we asked for is a ticket price hike. We spend crores of rupees on film production and on top of that, there was a lengthy delay in new theatrical releases which resulted in piling up of interest amounts and other additional. We aren't looting or anything but simply asking for price hikes," Chiranjeevi said.
Chiranjeevi went on to add that the governments and the common public are okay with the ticket price hikes as they are ready to offer some financial assistance to us in this hour of need. There is absolutely no need to make the whole development look bigger than it actually is. We are in need of financial assistance and it is a good thing that the ticket price hikes are being permitted in the Telugu states. We are in great need of it.
Acharya is gearing up for theatrical release on the 29th of April and the makers have spent a whopping amount of budget on the project. It is expected to take the box office by storm as it hits the silver screens this weekend.
