'Cirkus' Heading Towards A Disastrous End!
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 Dec 2022 1:28 PM GMT2022 turned out to be a huge nightmare for the Hindi film industry. Even big stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan and others faced their biggest disasters this year. With 'Drishyam 2' working out well in theatres, trade pundits expected that this year will end on a pleasant note with Rohit Shetty's 'Cirkus' coming out on 23rd December.
Rohit Shetty is a bankable commercial director. His action films like 'Singham', 'Singham Returns', 'Sooryavanshi' and 'Simmba' were massive hits and so are his logicless comedy movies like 'Golmaal', 'Golmaal 2', 'Golmaal 3', 'Golmaal 4', 'Chennai Express', 'Bol Bachchan', 'Dilwale' and others. Many expected 'Cirkus' to attract the crowds in the same manner and collect huge irrespective of the talk but the outcome is completely different.
The movie released during the festive season, had a hero like Ranveer Singh, glamorous heroines like Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandes, amazing comedians and many more. But Rohit Shetty failed to reach the expectations and the movie disappointed the audience heavily. It was made on a budget of 150 crores and bagged a disaster talk right on the very first day. Due to this people did not show interest in stepping into the theatres. It managed to collect just 25 crores in 5 days.
Analysts concluded that there is no chance of revival for this film and the team has stopped promotions too. The makers expected the movie to make at least 200 crores but their hopes evaporated right after the morning shows on the first day. Even cameos from Deepika Padukone and Ajay Devgn too couldn't save this film.
With the theatre business witnessing such a downfall and the taste of the North audience changing completely, Bollywood has turned completely clueless. The discussions about nepotism and boycott culture are a whole other issue. Under such chaos, Shah Rukh Khan is making his comeback with 'Pathaan'. Directed by Siddharth Anand, this action thriller is getting released on 25th January. There are a lot of controversies surrounding this project already and we need to see if King Khan saves Bollywood or not.
