Corona Effect On Tollywood: High Interest Rates..No Business
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 April 2020 12:14 PM GMTThe Corona pandemic has resulted in an economic crisis all over the World. Tollywood is no exception for Corona and already few producers are feeling the heat! The latest news doing rounds in Telugu Film Nagar is all about the troubles of producers on huge interest rates and no business in Tollywood.
It is evident that producers get the money from financiers and banks with lot of interest. There are no releases at all and moreover the OTT business can't change the fate of producers to the fullest. OTT can help only small and medium producers who are already saved mostly. The RBI has already announced moratorium on loans taken and gave enough time for EMI's but that’s not going to be of greater help to producers.
In China, recently they have opened the Theaters by decreasing the occupancy to 25% capacity of the Theater. For suppose if the Theater has 350 seats, now it has to allow only 85 people to watch the film. This rule somehow works wonders for small moves alone that are desperately in need of Theaters to show case their talent. It is a pitiful situation for the finished and ready to release films like 'V', 'RED', and 'Master'. Let’s see what the Indian govt. decides!
The Producers are now planning to hold meetings with the stars and production units to go for cost cutting measures so that in the future the Industry would be reliable yet again! As of now doing only small budget films would be helpful for all as money can’t be generated in this crisis!
