Court asks to stop Drishyam
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 July 2014 8:00 AM GMTTroubles have been continuing for Drishyam makers. The Malayalam blockbuster has already been remade in Kannada and Telugu and in both languages the film has proved to be commercial success. Now it is inviting troubles for new remake in Tamil with Kamal hasan in lead role.
The film was launched in Tamil and itÂ’s going to be made by the original Malayalam director himself. However ever since the launch of the Tamil version the director has been hounded by controversy and copy allegations.
ItÂ’s known that Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor issued a legal notice against Drishyam stating that it seems to be the adaption of the Japanese novel, The Devotion of Suspect X. She says that she has already acquired the movie making rights of the same.
Now itÂ’s the turn of a writer cum director Saheesh Paul. The writer has filed an injunction in the court to stop the filming of the Tamil remake of the blockbuster movie Drishyam. He observed that Drishyam plot is copied form his novel Oru Mazhakkalathu. He states that the movie conveys the same theme as that of his novel. The novel is also about a husband who tries to conceal a crime done by his family.
Paul alleges that the situations from his novel are used same to same in the movie without any changes. Following the petitions, Ernakulam district court has asked the filmmaker not to go ahead with the remake. However the director has maintained that he has not copied anything from others but saying that it was just a co-incidence of two creative brains. We have to see how the makers go ahead with it.
