Covid 3rd wave: Young Telugu producers eyeing OTT

The Covid 3rd wave is gaining pace with every passing day in India. For the first time since June 2021, India reported over 1 lakh cases per day. This happened yesterday as India reported a total of over 1,17,000 new cases.
Accordingly, there are reports claiming that the government of Andhra Pradesh is contemplating the idea of implementing a night curfew in the state. Also, there is a talk that 50% seating capacity regulation might be imposed at cinema halls across the state.
In view of the prevailing situations, it is heard that many Telugu film producers are willing to go the OTT way now. Young producers who have their films lined up for theatrical release are now contemplating direct to OTT releases.
With theatres likely to run with restricted capacities and the Telugu audience not too keen to step out to watch new theatrical releases in theatres, OTT is the way to go, opine observers.
It is said that Amazon Prime Video and Netflix have already initiated talks with several Telugu films that are in final leg of production now to orchestrate direct to OTT release for them. More details in this regard will be out once the related deals are struck.
