Cyber Fraudsters Target WhatsApp Of Celebrities, Investigation Underway

The WhatsApp hacking of celebrities took place in Hyderabad. The cyber fraudsters have hacked the WhatsApp accounts of cyber victims by sending messages in the name of 'emergency messages'.
After hacking a victim's WhatsApp., the fraudsters have sent an SMS with a six-digit code to the people in the contact list of the victims stating that it's 'emergency help'.
According to some media reports, the fraudsters have sent WhatsApp message stating that they have sent the message by mistake and ask the recipients to tell the code they have received.
As the victims received the message from known people they have sent the code without much hesitation. Once they send the code, their WhatsApp and other personal data get compromised.
A case has been registered in this regard and an investigation is underway. Police and cyber experts urged people to not respond to such messages and be more cautious about the frauds.
