Though everybody is showering praises on the 'Mahanati', Gemini Ganesan's daughter from his first wife Kamala recently expressed her disappointment over the portrayal of his father's character.
Responding to Kamala Ganesan's remarks on 'Mahanati', Savitri's daughter Vijaya Chamundeswari made interesting comments. She said that there is nothing wrong with her sister's comments. She felt that her sister might have seen the movie from her point of few. She said that "It's just a perception difference and I don't find any fault with Kamala Akka. Being a Tamilian, she might have understood the film in a different way."
She tried to clarify the controversy over the scene where Gemini Ganesan forced Savitri to drink alcohol. Vijaya Chamundeswari said that "I agree that my father didn't force her to drink. She might have got habituated to alcohol because of social drinking which was rampant in the film industry at that time. Though 'Mahanati' has shown dad forcing mom to drink alcohol, that doesn't mean she drank for the first time with him only."
She added that the most valuable assets she got from her father are her sisters from her stepmothers. She said that her Peddamma(Alamelu) is her mentor and a great supporter.
