It is known that the government of Andhra Pradesh has announced that it proposes to launch a new online cinema ticketing portal. Once this comes to effect, almost every cinema hall across the state will have to sell tickets through the government's portal. This way, the government keeps track of the theatrical revenues that are being generated and then incur the taxation policy accordingly. "Government after careful examination of the procedure of the sale of tickets in the cinema theatres hereby order to develop a portal for online booking of cinema tickets on the lines of Railway Online Ticketing System. This Online Ticketing System will be managed by AP State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation,” The statement from the government of Andhra Pradesh read.

This proposal has drawn a mixed response from the Tollywood fraternity. Deva Katta, the director of Sai Dharam Tej's Republic has called out the government of Andhra Pradesh over the new cinema ticketing proposal.

"Does this new government ticketing setup means making a movie is like investing into a government contract and later wait in line endlessly to get the bills cleared? #JustAsking," Deva Katta tweeted.

"Govt sells railway tickets to credit into Govt A/Cs b’cause railways r run by Govt. Is d AP Govt going to fund all d movies to hav sch revenue routing control over a product that a private entity hav invested in? Does d proposed AP Govt online ticketing setup means making a movie is like investing into a Govt contract, later waiting in line to get d bills cleared? Is this how d producer has to get his investment back from such ticket sales? Pls correct me if my perception is wrong," Deva Katta tweeted.

It is very much evident that Deva Katta is displeased with Andhra Pradesh government's cinema ticketing portal proposal and understandably so. We have to wait and see if the government of Andhra Pradesh representatives react ot Deva Katta's comments, As for Deva Katta's upcoming film, Republic, the film is scheduled to release in theaters on the 1st of October. The Sai Dharam Tej starrer has Aishwarya Rajesh and Ramya Krishna in other important roles.
