Director G. Ashok shot to fame with the movie 'Pilla Zamindar'. He had directed films like 'Aakasha Ramanna'.. 'Sukumarudu' before the he got success with 'Pilla Zamindar'. His latest film 'Chitrangada' starring Anjali is slated for release on March 10.
Ashok is not like any other director. If you know his other talents you will be surprised for sure. He was a child artiste. He acted in 16 films. He learned 13 types of classical dances. Not only that.. he is an Engineering graduate. He got an opportunity as a dance assistant for 'Aadalla Majaka', when he was giving hundreds of stage shows. He worked for almost 300 songs from then onwards. He went to UK and learned Salsa.. Jumba dances later. He has taken training in directon simultaneously.. he was associated in the making of several documentaries.
He made a documentary on street kids with the name of Navjeevan. It has received international awards.. on the other hand, his children film 'Ushodayam' received Nandi Award. He made a concept movie with the title 'Flash News' based on electronic journalism.. he made another movie 'Aakasha Ramanna' later. With these films he turned commercial director. Ashok felt those films were unsuccessful due to the wrong release timing and lack of proper promotions.
Apart from his 'Chitrangada' which is releasing on March 10, another film 'Bhagamati' starring Anushka is on the sets now. He is saying that this Bhagamati has nothing to do with the history of Hyderabad.. it is a complete commercial story.
