Karunakaran breathed fire on Media for drawing comparisons between 'Tholi Prema' and 'Tej - I Love You'. Particularly, The Airport sequence in the climax of both the movies has been compared.
During the media interaction, Karunakaran shot back: 'If I did 'Tholi Prema' Climax in Airport, Shouldn't I do climax of any other film in Airport? Concept of both the films were completely different. In 'Tholi Prema', Both Hero & Heroine doesn't express love until Climax. In 'Tej - I Love You', Hero & Heroine express their love but have few issues to sort out. Backdrop & Situation are different in both these movies, Just location is the same'.
On the negative reactions, The Filmmaker opined: 'It's like you are complaining just because you have to say something'.
When quizzed if he have the pressure to live up to the standards of 'Tholi Prema', Karunakaran admitted: 'Certainly! When a Student achieved State First, There will be pressure on him/her to maintain that standard'.
