An uneventful September For Box Office
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 Oct 2018 7:30 AM GMTAugust had Geetha Govindam to talk about but September saw nothing coming close to such huge blockbuster. September first week saw release of Silly Fellows, C/O Kancherapalem, Manu.
Out of the three films, Silly Fellows had revenues for the first two days but belanda flop after that. C/O Kancherapalem remained a well revered movie but box office wise, it showed no impact. Manu failed due to high claim by the director with absolutely no content.
Second week saw U-Turn and Shailaja Reddy Alludu releases. Shailaja Reddy Alludu showed that Naga Chaitanya has a good market and he needs better films at the box office. Movie had a good first weekend to talk about. U-Turn couldn't come up with good revenues after a decent talk and word of mouth.
Third week saw Sudheer Babu's Nannu Dochukunduvate. The movie showed again that Sudheer Babu can't save a movie with passable content. Fourth week saw Devadas and Nawab releases.
Nawab became a revenue earner in Tamil Nadu but failed in Telugu as the content is not that good that even though the star power is absent Telugu people can accept it without any second thoughts.
Devadas is collecting good revenues due to combination craze but the content is up to the level of the expectations that the audience had. Still an above average verdict is expected looking at the movie's performance.
On the whole, September did not give much relief to the distributors who had some set backs in August. What holds in October? We have to wait and see.
