On The Flip Side: Are Reviewers Hurt With DJ Collections?
X
Movie reviews have become part and parcel of a cinelovers life. Whenever there is a movie release we find reviews on the popular websites.. TV channels.. social media as well. If you log in to FB on a Friday almost every user becomes a reviewer he gives his opinion on the film.. he discusses about the plusses minuses of the film.. he will analyse the film as if he is a Karan Johar.. D. Suresh Babu.

Let us stop beating around the bush and get to the point straight away. Do the reviews have impact on the success of the film ? No one can give a perfect answer to this question. Because, they used to have impact when reviews concept was relatively new in the social media space. But they are slowly losing their authenticity. Audience are not believing any review 100%. They are cross checking three four reviews from popular websites to know whether the reviewers are on the same page or not !

If we take few Tollywood films as examples.. 'Kanche'.. 'Manamantha' movies were highly appreciated by the reviewers.. critics. Kindly don't get into the technicalities of who is a reviewer and who is a critic... it'll become a huge topic to discuss. These two films have got high ratings from the reviewers. But we all know how successful they are commercially. Now the moot question here is.. Did those highly encouraging reviews help these two films become blockbusters at the box office.. No. Audience least bothered about those reviews.

On the other hand, if we take Allu Arjun- Boyapati film 'Sarrainodu'.. it has got mixed reviews. If we remember, NTR-Koratala film 'Janata Garage' also recieved mixed reviews. Some reviewers opined that the climax of 'Janata Garage' was boring and hero should kill the villain not Mohan Lal. But those movies went on to become blockbusters. If we consider the reviews of these two films we can understand that most of the reviewers were not on the same page.

Coming to the present, 'DJ-Duvvada Jangannadham' received disappointing to average reviews.. and ratings. But the movie is performing very well at the ticket windows. More than the reviews, there are several articles in the popular websites criticizing the film.. taking potshots at the DJ team for their attack on the reviewers. Dil Raju clearly told in the recent success meet that they made a mass film. It is pretty clear that they just wanted to play it to the galleries.. and they are very clear that they are not making 'Shatamanam Bhavati part 2' to achieve another national award.

When they are playing it to the galleries there will be illogical scenes.. routine scenes.. you can expect all sorts of rubbish in the film. When audience have no problem watching that kind of a film, reviewers seems to be seriously upset. It appears that they are hurt with the mindblowing collections of DJ. Sorry.. Hurt-aha.. hurt-asya...hurt-obhyaha !
