Excessive South Flavour in Jawan: Will They Welcome It?
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 July 2023 6:19 PM GMTShah Rukh Khan's upcoming film "Jawan" has surprised many with its casting choices and the inclusion of predominantly South Indian technicians. This infusion of South Indian flavor has left the actor's fans concerned about the film's reception in the northern parts of India.
What stands out the most in "Jawan" is its actresses, which feature Nayantara, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Amrita Iyer, and others, most of whom are primarily associated with South Indian cinema. While Deepika Padukone is a well-established star in Bollywood despite her South Indian roots, the remaining actresses have a strong South-centric presence.
In contrast, actors like Prabhas have been opting for a total Bollywood cast and crew for their movies, further highlighting the uniqueness of Shah Rukh Khan's approach. "Jawan" seems to possess a Tamil film essence with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
However, with recent films like "Pushpa," "Kantara," and "Baahubali" successfully transcending regional boundaries and captivating North Indian audiences, Shah Rukh Khan appears to be less concerned about this aspect. He believes that his presence and the success of his previous blockbuster, "Pathaan," will ensure a remarkable performance in the Hindi-speaking regions.
Nevertheless, he hopes that the infusion of South Indian elements will help the film resonate strongly in Tamil Nadu, Telugu states, and Karnataka. Only time will tell how this unique amalgamation of talent and cultural flavors will be received by audiences across India.
