A fatwa has been issued against Oscar winning filmmaker AR Rahman for rnhis involvement in the Iranian film titled 'Muhammad: Messenger of God' rnyear. A Sunni Muslim group has issued a fatwa against AR Rahman and rnfilmmaker Majid Majidi for a film the Prophet. The fatwa was issued by a Mumbai based Sunni Muslim group called Raza Academy

rnThe Fatwa demands that Muslims reject Majidi's film titled ‘Muhammad: rnMessenger of God’ which is based on the first of the trilogy on life of rnProphet Mohammad.The fatwa claims the film makes a mockery of Islam. rnThey strongly objected for including some non-Muslims in the key rnroles.Earlier the same group had sent a notice to Maharashtra Chief rnMinister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. They rnhad written to the Home Minister and Maharashtra Chief Minister, seekingrn a ban on the film.
