File FIR Against Suriya and others says Court!
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 May 2022 7:05 AM GMTKollywood Star Hero Suriya is known for his promising and intense acting. He will go into the skin of the character he is portraying. His courtroom drama Jai Bhim had won many applauses and appreciation. The film was nominated for the Oscars as well but could not win the prestigious award. He had bankrolled the film.
Besides the applause, the film had landed in a few controversies as a few communities were not happy with the portrayal of the communities. Alleging that they were degraded in the films, the communities have been fighting against the film.
As a big blow to the film actor Suriya, producer Jyothika(producer), and director Gnanavel, a court in Chennai had issued directives to the cops to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the trio for reportedly showing the Vanniyar community in a bad light.
A few members of the Rudra Vanniyar Sena have knocked on the doors of the court against them and alleged that the makers have shown the community in a bad light. Hearing the petition, the court orders the Police department to file a case against the trio.
Though the film was based on real-life incidents, the identities of the villains were changed reportedly. While some other community behaved wrongly towards a few people, the film reportedly showed the Vanniyar community in an objectionable manner.
The Vanniyar community has been raising its objections over the way the community was represented in the film. Since the last year, the community and the bodies that fight for the rights of the community are fighting against the film regarding the portrayal of the community.
Jai Bhim is based on the real incident of Justice K. Chandru's fight against the police bias towards a particular community. The film highlights how people from the marginalized community will be subjected to police brutality.
Suriya played the role of Justice K.Chandru. T. J. Gnanavel helmed the film which was bankrolled by the 2D Entertainment banner owned by Suriya and his wife Jyothika. The courtroom drama has an ensemble cast of Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, and others
