We see lot of people trying to go around the world, for promoting their movies. In Hollywood, stars go for press tours to promote even the biggest blockbuster films like Star Wars and Avengers. In Hindi Film Industry, SRK, Salman and Aamir too go to different cities to promote their film.
But in Telugu, not many promotional activities happen as the stars are more shy and they ask the media to come to a secluded place to give some interviews. Rest is overseen by their fans and PR team. Hence, even if the distributors spend 110 crores in total to secure rights they have to additionally invest on publicity campaigns as well in their localities.
In the case of Padmaavat, even Hindi actors are not promoting it much. Like Mersal, in recent times, this movie has also been in controversies. But Mersal, got into controversies after release, but this movie has been controversial right from it's inception.
Rajput Karni Sena is trying to project this film as false story and as a ridicule and violation of a great Queen like Padmavathi. They have been going around the country to make sure that they do not allow theatres to play the film.
Even in Hyderabad, few Rajputs have come out against the film. Also, with bans all around the country and Deepika's waist being covered in VFX, the film already has great free publicity that it can desire.
So, none of the actors or crew are giving interviews and even not visiting any areas that can be attacked by a mob, without protection. The movie is releasing on 25th of January and due to all this publicity even in Southern states, the advance booking is like never before.
Well, not all films can get such free publicity and this could be the first and last film, that might become so controversial even after Supreme Court orders.
