Freemakes Better Than Remakes Now!

The film industry is not how it used to be before. Especially, there was a time when a film that was successful in one language was remade in many other languages and it was a big success formula. There were heroes who built their careers on remakes and a few remakes turned out to be industry hits as well.

Barring one or two, most of the heroes did remakes at a certain point in their careers. But the situation is different now. The success rate for these remakes have reduced quite drastically in the last two years. There is a huge claim that the rise of OTT platforms are the main reason for this.

A successful movie is being watched by everyone with the help of subtitles on OTT platforms. Due to this, people are knowing about the film even before it was remade. A complete remake is no longer working out and they need make a few changes from the original. Movies like 'Vakeel Saab' and 'Bheemla Nayak' prove this theory.

There are a few who state that freemakes are better than remakes nowadays. A lot of films had similar storylines which were inspired from Hollywood films but the treatment is completely different. Such freemakes can impress the people more than official remakes since people are watching the original versions as soon as the remake is announced.

A lot of directors are following this and many suggest that the other makers too follow this approach if needed. Not just in Telugu but a lot of makers are facing losses by doing remakes lately. There is a talk that Samantha is planning to remake the Malayalam super hit movie 'Jaya Jaya Jaya He'. Even Varun Dhawan is interested in remaking the Tamil film 'Love Today' in Hindi.

Both these movies are available on OTT platforms and a lot of people watched them already. It will be tough for the makers to grab the interest of the audience through these remakes. Let us wait and see what happens.
