Harish Shankar issues clarification for DJ controversy!

Duvvada Jagannadam has become the movie of the season with Allu Arjun's look from teasers and the two singles released, creating great buzz for the movie. Especially, the second single, Gudilo Badilo Madilo has become controversial with Brahmin communities raising objections about the lyrics. Mainly, usage of Namakam and Tamakam, terms that belong to Rudra sthothram in Vedas has become the centre of the entire controversy.

Well, the director of the movie Duvvada Jagannadam, Harish Shankar came out to answer to all the accusations about the controversy! First Harish introduced himself in typical Brahmin style and then continued to say, " Even though I am in Film Industry, I don't even touch Egg and that's how I grew up in my household. You can easily understand that I too belong to Brahmin community and I know how important it is to save our culture and what the words mean. As far as using Tamalapaku lanti Tamakam goes, it does not demean the words and we used 'Tamalapaku' (Betel Leaves) as a metaphor and in our households we don't use a once used betel leaf again, so we used the word to describe his passion towards her.

"For a boy, born and brought up in typical Brahmin household, we cannot use some Pakistani mango leaves to describe his passion and love for a girl. So we used those words and that objects that he daily uses." He supported writer Sahiti by saying, " Lyricist Sahiti, worked hard on the song and he does understand the difference between the words that makes sense and words that doesn't. Rather than just taking things on their face value, try to explore the deeper meaning in them. We spent crores on the money and don't want to create controversies. Dil Raju, the producer and his family, every year conduct Brahmostavam in their Lord Venkateswara's Temple with utmost respect and devotion. He will not look to demean other devotees and religion in any sense. I'm busy with post production works , so not running around studios to answer those questioning but if that satisfies you, I will come with my lyricist to explain each of your doubts. Lastly, being from a Brahmin household, I won't look to spit on my own face by insulting my own community. Please understand that!"
