Why Do Telugu Films Need Heroines?
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 July 2017 3:44 PM GMTWhat is the difference between the present generation films and yesteryear films ? This is a regular question encountered by the senior actors from the reporters. The answer will depend on the experience and intelligence of the actor. Let us keep aside the technology changes for a while. Overall, Indian cinema is changing.. Are we also part of the change ? Telugu cinema is in delusion that we are part of the big change. Even though young generation is entering the industry, they are also singing the same old tune.
When we talk about the masala films, heroine characterization is not changing at all. Heroines have only a single mission. They have to wear revealing dresses and they have to run behind the hero. Even our stories will have no significance for heroine role except this. There is not even a milli meter change in their characterisation now. In fact, it is not fair to say that they will write script considering the heroine at all. The situation is clearly evident that heroines are only for skin show.. acting skills are not required.
If we take examples of few recent films.. the situation is same. Even young directors are also doing the same. Heroine will be studying something in a movie.. but you won't find a single scene related to her studies..and her studies will not have any impact on the story. Ganta Ravi debut film 'Jayadev' is also similar. Heroine comes to the police station in a half top dress. Most of the time she stands behind Ravi saying 'Ammo'.
Similarly Pooja Hegde in 'DJ' does the same. Anybody with common sense can say that she is taken for only for glamour show.. not for her acting skills. She has to go to abroad for higher studies.. but you'll not find a single scene regardig her studies in the two and half hours.
Heroine Ritu Varma studies Law in 'Keshava'. She uses all her Law knowledge on hero.. it will not have any impact on the story. If we take Sharwanand movie 'Radha', Lavanaya Tripathi character has nothing to do in the film except romancing hero.
This is how heroine characterization is going on in Telugu movies. Heroine is just a business element in our films now. Audience are also losing interest towards this kind of routine elements in the Telugu movies in this ultra-modern age. If the same thing continues.. audience will not go the theaters even if it is a star hero film.. or star director flick. Young directors should change this kind of decades old meaningless tradition by writing meaningful & interesting characters for heroines.
