How Tollywood Will Address Varisu Controversy Now?
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Nov 2022 7:53 AM GMTShould dubbing films get equal importance as straight films was the question that popped up when a few Tollywood producers objected to the grand release of Varisu for the Pongal season in Telugu. The Telugu Producers stepped in and said that the straight films should get good preference.
The Producers' body even issued a press release saying the same. Big films like Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya are coming for the season and accommodating films like Varisu might affect one of the two films and that's why the body might have decided to prefer the straight films.
The decision is receiving strong reactions from the Kollywood industry. Earlier filmmaker Seeman objected to this and asked when the industry welcomed films like Baahubali, Pushpa, RRR, KGF, and Kantara were welcomed in Tamil Nadu why the Tamil films were stopped. He even raised doubt about a possible attempt to hinder Tamil Films.
Now popular director N. Linguswamy who earlier worked with Ram Pothineni for The Warriorr reacted to the news and said that the problem would have not happened. Saying that this could be a big problem the director also said that people from both sides should sit and talk to address the issue.
"This is the Golden Age of Tamil cinema. The word pan-India is not new and with the advent of OTT, people from any place in the country are watching films at any time. At such an important juncture, this kind of problem should not happen. This is creating a situation where cinema will change as before and after Varisu,â Linguswamy said.
Now we have to wait and see how Tollywood would address the Varisu issue. If the Tollywood Producers Council won't take a backstep then the next Telugu films which will release in Tamil Nadu will face the heat. The Pan India films might get affected by this.
Varisu is one of the much-awaited films from the Tamil industry. The film stars Vijay as the lead and is being made on a big budget allegedly. Tollywood producer Dil Raju is bankrolling the film helmed by Vamshi Paidipally. Happening beauty Rashmika Mandanna is playing the leading lady.
