I anticipated Tarak but Charan surprised me - Rajamouli
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 March 2022 9:49 AM GMTJr NTR and Ram Charan enjoy Big Mass following and huge star status in Telugu Cinema. With RRR, they are coming together for the first time and are also planning to launch themselves in other or to be precise, Pan India markets.
Rajamouli with each film of his, grew in stature and Baahubali 2 became all Time Indian Cinema Industry Hit. If collected highest grosses across different languages and it still no. 1 grosser in Telugu, Hindi languages while it is Top 5 for Tamil and Malayalam languages.
That is a huge record to hold on to for 5 years and RRR wishes to break it. In other words, Rajamouli as a director is hoping to break his own records and set new benchmarks.
The director talked about the film and said that Ram Charan, Jr. NTR ask him about working with him again but they never brought up any discussion regarding topics like making a Pan India subject or huge budget films with them. It is him who got the idea of bringing both of them together and RRR story worked out well for him to go for it.
Both the actors did not even listen to the story before signing on the dotted lines and that increased the responsibility of Rajamouli. The director revealed that both the actors knew what he is attempting with them and hence cooperated with him through out.
He said that he anticipated what Tarak brings to a scene and the actor did what he exactly wanted. But Charan surprised him. He commented that Charan is like a white paper and a director is the pen. Whatever you write that will reflect on screen.
"Jr NTR is a genius in understanding scenes and he delivers exactly what is required. Charan on the other hand, comes unprepared and depends on director's inputs more. I could get the best out of both of them. They both have separate working styles and both are great actors. All you do is tell them what exactly you want and they will deliver the goods," said Rajamouli in a promotional interview.
The director said that he feels nervous when all promotions are over and when it is silent around him after all the rush to complete the film is over and content is delivered. He said that his mind goes overboard thinking about scenarios where people don't really like his film and criticise him. That is the time, when he really gets worked up and have sleepless nights.
He revealed that he enjoys the process of pre-visualisation, story boarding, story discussions, scripting and execution. He said that while shooting he thinks about the actors he is working with and the fans of the actors. He doesn't think about what others are doing and how other films are opening or doing also. He concentrates on how he can improve the quality of film he is making.
He remarked that rather than thinking about factors that are not in his hand, it is better to concentrate on them that he can control. Hence, when RRR team was hit by Corona pandemic, he waited with bated breathe to get back to work whenever possible and kept himself positive about the outcome.
RRR is releasing on 25th March Worldwide and it is the biggest Indian film ever made in terms of budget and scale. Film costed Rs. 350 to 400 crores budget to producer DVV Danayya and it has Alia Bhatt, Samuthirakani, Shriya Saran, Ajay Devgn, Ray Stevenson and Olivia Morris in other important roles along with Ram Charan, Jr NTR.
