Actress-turned-Politician Ramya (aka Divya Spandana) who failed to retain her MP seat in recent General Elections brought to the notice of Congress high command that she was defeated because of Iconic Actor & Party Leader Ambareesh.
Ramya contested on Congress ticket from Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency and got defeated in the hands of Janata Dal (Secular) candidate CS Puttaraju with a thing margin of around 4,000 votes. While the actress bagged 512,310 votes, Puttaraju secured 516,650 votes to claim victory.
Notably, Ramya elected to Lok Sabha for the first time from Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency in the by-poll held a year ago.
Ramya cited the rift between Housing Minister Ambareesh and Formal External Minister SM Krishna as the reason for her defeat. She also feels Ambareesh doesn't want her to win the elections and hence his supporters joined hands with opponents to see her on the losing side. Posters blaming Ambareesh for Ramya's defeat surfaced in Mandya constituency and now there is a clear divide between the fans of these actors in Karnataka.
