Indian Documentary Wins Oscar

The 91st Oscars Awards event took place in a grand manner. A lot of films have competed with one another and the best ones were awarded. Meanwhile, India's 'Period. End of Sentence' won the prestigious Oscar award in the Best Documentary Short Subject category.
The documentary is all about how a group of fiercely determined young women in rural India install a sanitary pad machine, combat the stigma of menstruation and discover newfound independence. It is directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi and produced by Guneet Monga. It also had real 'Pad Man' Arunachalam Murgunantham.
Among the films Black Sheep, End Game, Lifeboat, A Night at the Garden and Period. End of Sentence, the jury selected Period. End of Sentence as the best one in the documentary subject category.
