The government is preparing a resolution condemning Pakistan, after the country's lower house of parliament brought a resolution against India, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said Wednesday.

Pakistan's National Assembly Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution condemning what it called "unprovoked aggression by Indian military forces" on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The issue was raised Wednesday in both houses of parliament with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contending that the government should bring a resolution against Pakistan.

"There is no partisanship in the Pakistan National Assembly resolution. This has to be condemned. India is planning to counter Pakistan's resolution with a similar resolution," Kamal Nath told reporters outside parliament.

The government informed the Rajya Sabha that it is already in the process of preparing a resolution.

"External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid is preparing a resolution, and when ready it will be brought to the parliament for passing," Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla told Rajya Sabha.

Five Indian soldiers were killed when Pakistani troops intruded into the Poonch sector last week.
