In a first-of-its-kind development, two different versions of the same film have been sent for screenings in the USA. Incidentally, RRR is the film to set this precedent as two different versions of the film have been readied.
"#RRRMovie will have separate Premium Large Format Version Content unlike other movies that play regular content in PLF screens.
As a first for any film, different content versions for Dolby Atmos & other variants will be made available.
#RRRinUSA Premiers on Jan 6th," the statement from the makers of RRR read.
This would mean that two different versions of the film will be screened in the USA. While one is the regular version that will be screened at every normal theatre across the globe, the other is an exclusive version that will be screened only at the big screens, including the Dolby Vision technology-complying theatres.
This is the first time two different versions of the same film are being made available. More details in this regard will be out soon. It is unclear if the large format version will have too many changes when compared to the original version.
