Is Bollywood not able to digest South Cinema rise?
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 April 2022 2:59 PM GMTHindi Markets are dominated by single screens. Only Delhi NCR, Mumbai circuits have multiplex screens and major centres in other states have single screens.
So, metro based story telling of recent Bollywood movie makers is not being able to give those single screen audiences what they like to watch in theatres. Salman Khan, Aamir Khan kind of stars also did remake movies from South to give big blockbusters.
Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn from few decades have been doing remakes. South movies have always been doing good in Hindi Markets as remakes. But now direct South movies as dubbed films are doing great.
So, critics and Bollywood stars are unable to digest this. They are saying that the recent blockbusters have huge action blocks and more violence.
They are calling these movies very very harmful for society. But Karan Johar kind of producers are asking makers to learn from South Indian Cinema.
Well, South movies have different kind of genres and viewers in North Indian markets have different taste to that of what Bollywood critics and current generation makers are taking inspiration from.
It would be nice to give audiences what they want rather than trying to call the trend bad. Even Marvel films are doing great and it is action genre that North Indian markets are encouraging. We need to accept that and do good films.
