Is It Right To Blame Reviews & Reviewers?
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Jun 2023 6:06 PM ISTDiscussions about the 'Reviews â Ratings' happen all the time in film industry. When movie releases, the critics give their opinion about how the film is and talk in detail about all the main crafts. Not just in Indian cinema but reviewing movies is a common thing across the globe.
Frankly, the audience always expect to read reviews. But the industry folks have mixed option about it. They claim that reviews directly affect the movie's collections and there are a few who state that reviews and ratings are killing cinema. They ask the biggies to control the review culture but there are a lot who back the review culture too.
At a time when even big films are getting faded away within a week, the reviews have become too powerful as per the experts. The audience have changed a lot over the past two years and they are very clear about what kind of films they will be watching. They are very smart about it and some even decide to go to theatres by looking at the promotional content irrespective of what the reviews say.
Starting from NTR to 'Bigg Boss' fame Sunny, everyone criticises the review writers. Their problem can also be understood as the movie's verdict is being finalized even before the first day ends and this is affecting the box office prospects. But it has to be understood that reviews are not the only way to determine a film's result. The word of mouth is very crucial even today and filmmakers need to realise that nothing can stop a good film and no one can save a bad film despite all the backing.
As a matter of fact, people are being a bit careful about spending money on films ever since the pandemic struck the world. When people are getting a wide range of content through OTT platforms, they are using reviews to decide whether to step out of their homes and spend their hard-earned money on a movie or not. If the movie is good, reviews help in increasing the business as more people tend to walk into the theatres.
But the real problem arises when the reviews are negative. A lot of people start blaming reviewers but what they need to understand is that no one wants to spread negative talk about a good movie. It has been proved a lot of times that no one can stop quality content.
