Is RRR Interval Scene Inspired From A 1969 Film?

There is nothing wrong in getting inspired by old films and writing stories or scenes. Rajamouli's father Vijayendra Prasad who is one of the most prolific writers in the country has said that he wrote 'Bhajrangi Bhaijaan' story based on Chiranjeevi's super hit movie 'Pasivaadi Praanam'. Prior to that, Rajamouli's one of the biggest hit 'Simhadri' was inspired from 'Vasantha Kokila'. There is a talk that Vijayendra Prasad has a habit of getting inspired by books and old films on many occasions.

In an interview, he stated that they designed 'Baahubali 2' interval scene based on the craze of Pawan Kalyan during the pre-release events. This shows that you can get inspired by anything and everything. There are a few who are saying that the interval scene of Rajamouli's recent blockbuster 'RRR' is inspired by a storyline of 1969 Telugu film.

Krishna and Shobhan Babu acted together in a movie called 'Manchi Mitrulu'. It came out in 1969 and it shows Krishna as a thief and Shobhan Babu as a police. They become friends without knowing about each other's professions. Later in the film, Krishna gets shocked when he sees Shoban Babu in a police uniform and the latter tries to arrest the thief.

As we know, 'RRR' has an interval scene where Ram Charan gives a shock to NTR by arriving inside the British fort as a police officer. With both of them having a striking similarity, the 'Iddaru Mithrulu' scene is currently going around on social media. Netizens are commenting that Vijayendra Prasad might have gotten inspired by the old Telugu film as his track record backs this theory. Only Rajamouli and his dad could answer this but they probably won't considering they are busy with the works of their next film with Mahesh.
