Is This The Tollywood's New Capital?
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Jun 2020 10:50 AM ISTAfter shifting from Madras, Hyderabad became the centre and the heart of Tollywood. Though it was the capital, a lot of shootings were also done in Vishakapatnam at that time. Vizag used to be the first option for outdoor shootings but things have changed over the years and the coastal city lost its prominence. Filmmakers are not regularly shooting their movies in Vizag these days.
They are preferring North Indian cities or even foreign locations and completely ignored our beautiful city filled with beaches. There were talks over turning Vizag into a second film hub after the state got separated into two but none of them materialized. But sources claim that the present government is very serious about turning Vizag into an important city with all the infrastructure.
As a part of it, the government is very firm on bringing the film industry to Vizag as per reports and during the recent meet of Telugu film industry with CM Jagan, the topic of turning Vizag into a film hub was reportedly discussed in detail. Andhra Pradesh minister Perni Nani stated that the government would cooperate in building film studios at Vizag. He promised that they would give permissions for shootings on a single window basis and offered other benefits too.
Already, late Ramanaidu built a studio on the beach road near Rushikonda over an area spanning of 35 acres. Apart from developing that, CM Jagan is also focusing on building new studios as per sources and news is that he is going to set a cine hub in the surroundings of Vishakapatnam in around 1000 acres thereby turning it into a destination spot for shootings of all other industries.
Experts are suggesting that Vizag can turn into a new care-of address for Tollywood if the bigwigs decide to invest there and they need not depend on Hyderabad entirely.
