It is Just Like What Puri Said!

The issue of repaying the losses that occurred to buyers of 'Liger' is getting way out of hand. Director Puri Jagannadh who was willing to settle some amount of money had gotten angry with Warangal Seenu and Shoban. He even decided to complain to the police regarding this. A lot of such issues happened before but none of them became public. There are many instances where the people came to an agreement or the buyers accepted their fate or heroes giving some money to calm the issue. But 'Liger' failure led to a huge debate on social media and television.

If we look back, there are many such similar stories. A top producer like Devi Vara Prasad stopped producing big films after a disaster like 'Mrugaraju'. People still remember what Chengala Venkatrao did after 'Narasimhudu'. A lot of big films like 'Shakti', 'Agnyathavaasi', 'Brahmotsavam', 'Spyder' and others resulted in humongous losses. Even a legendary actor like NTR had films that ended up as disasters with huge losses.

Irrespective of their experience, a lot of producers, heroes and directors had to face this experience. But the directors these days are trying to become partners in production and get more money in return rather than taking a paycheque. The film industry is based on business. As Puri said, it is a gamble as no one knows whether a film runs or not. If people had such powers, the Telugu rights of 'Kantara' would not have gone for just 2 crores and 'Liger' would not be sold for over 100 crores. This business has a lot of risks and raising the stakes higher every time will create huge problems like this.
