Jai Lava Kusa Settled For Less?

Overseas market has expanded for our Telugu films. Similarly, our producers are also quoting astronomical prices to the distributors. But the situation of overseas distributors became very tough because they are not recovering their money even though a film becomes a hit due to the high theater rents and local taxes. That's the reason why they came up with several conditions for buying films like 'Jai Lava Kusa'.. 'Spyder'.. 'Paisa Vasool'. The makers had to concede their demands finally to sell the rights for less than they have quoted initially. But still, the finalised deals are high.

If we take the case of 'Spyder', they have initially quoted Rs.21 crores. But they have finally sold Telugu-Tamil overseas rights for Rs.15+ crores. It appears to be less amount but the movie has to collect $3.5 million to recover the investment. It's a big target. The case is similar with 'Jai Lava Kusa' as well. Producer Nandamuri Kalyan Ram said to have quoted Rs.18 crores initially.. and he was ready to close the deal for Rs.15 crores. Somehow the deal finally closed for Rs.10+ crores. A new distributor said to have struck the deal in overseas. The movie has to collect minimum $2.2 million to recover the investment of the distributor.

Several Telugu films are collecting over $1 million and some films are even inching towards $2 million. 'Khaidi No.150' has already achieved $ 2 million mark and 'Fidaa' is nearing $2 million mark. Whatever be the case, $2 million mark has become a minimum target for overseas for biggies. If those films will not reach $2 million mark, the distributors will incur huge losses.
