The romantic entertainer collected Rs 8.71 crore in India alone on Day 1. This is almost Rs 1 crore higher than 'Student Of The Year' which featured debutantes Alia Bhat, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.
Bollywood Trade Analysts say, Very rarely a film starring newcomers achieve such overwhelming numbers. Most of the credit for 'Dhadak' feat goes to the brand value of Dharma Productions owned by Karan Johar.
The Ace Filmmaker took to Twitter to say, 'Glad to have our own record broken previously held by SOTY!'.
