Veteran actress Jyothi Lakshmi breathed her last in Chennai due to prolonged illness.
In 1963, Jyothi Lakshmi made her debut with the Tamil flick 'Periya Idathu Penn'. Apart from Telugu, Jyothi Lakshmi acted in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi Films. She have done over 300 films in these five languages and some of them were female-oriented projects. In those days, There was a strong sentiment that films having Jyothi Lakshmi's item song will become money spinners.
Jyothi Lakshmi even introduced her Sister Jayamalini to Film Industry. Even she ruled the roost for few years as Item Bomb.
