Kalank is the new film produced by Karan Johar with Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit. Abhishek Verman is directing the film.
The actors in the movie are too serious and the aesthetics of the film sets and story movement being set in early 20th century seems to indicate an old world type filmmaking.
A style that is more sync with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The structure also seems to go for big zamindar house having a crack down due to outside circumstances and within as well.
All looks like a Shakespearian drama that has been retold for today's generation. Even the iconic DDLJ train pose is used to say how torn is Alia between her love for her husband who doesn't love her back due to his love for his first wife and her love for a young man.
Also, there seems to a riots angle pioneered by Kunal Khemmu's character in the film.
Well, with mixed up relations and messed up lives of people in love, movie feels like an old Bollywood movie made in same style but with bigger budget.
Let's see if that is the case, on 17th April.
