Director Krish needs no introduction in Bollywood film industry as he already worked with Akshay Kumar. After Gautamiputra Satakarni in Telugu, Krish was asked to direct Manikarnika, a film on the life of Jhansi Lakshmi. Kangana Ranaut stepped in to play the titular role in the movie and the director finished the shoot on time. After the film reached the final stages of the post-production, Krish moved on to NTR but the producers of Manikarnika felt that the film needs re-shoot in some scenes.
Meanwhile, there are rumours that Kangana is planning to direct the film and complete the pending works of the film. These rumours went strong in the media and indicated that a cold war is happening between Krish and Kangana. When a popular media house asked Kangana for an answer, Kangana tried to escape the topic by giving a completely different and unconvincing answer.
Kangana wants Manikarnika to be released on 26th January next year and the first look of the film was out recently on the occasion of Independence Day. With Krish coming back to Tollywood, Kangana feels that her plans were spoiled and hence she is trying to take her own decisions. Even though Kangana is not revealing the facts, the Bollywood sources confirmed that all is not well between the film's actress and director.
