If there is one film that has been making a lot of noise in recent times, it is definitely the Kannada film 'Kantara'. This movie starring Rishab Shetty and Sapthami Gowda in the lead roles is a perfect action thriller and it is now the highest-rated film on IMDb. Hombale Films banner which produced the 'KGF' franchise and are making 'Salaar' have bankrolled this project which is getting a lot of critical acclaim for all corners.

With the movie heading towards touching the 75 crore mark in Karnataka, the team released the Hindi version too. It came out on Friday in the North market and about 1200 screens were given to it. With the huge praise coming from all over the nation, the team expected the film to get good collections.

Sources say that all it managed to grab was 80 lakhs to 1 core which is quite low especially considering the fact that it was released in 1200 screens. Shocking the trade pundits, the movie is severely underperforming and it may earn nothing but 3-4 crores by the end of its run.

Hindi releases like 'Doctor G' starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti's spy thriller too opened to empty theatres. While Ayushmann's film got 3.5 crores net on the first day, Parineeti's film failed to get even 25 lakhs. With 'Vikram Vedha' too collecting very less, this weekend will be a gloomy affair at the Bollywood box office.

The Telugu dubbed version of 'Kantara' came out on 15th October. Written and directed by Rishab Shetty himself, this movie is produced by Vijay Kiragandur. Music is composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath while Aravind S Kashyap is the cinematographer. Pratheek Shetty and KM Prakash are the editors and action is composed by Vikram Mor. Geetha Arts banner released this film in Telugu.
